NOTES ON TAKING NOTES!
Note cards
These offer you another very simple way to record important facts.
When you're ready to write the report, just rearrange the cards in logical order and write connecting statements. The report
practically writes itself!
• Give your card a title (identify the topic of the card).
• Use a separate card for each bit of information.
• Be sure to list the source where you find the information.
Here's an example of what you might find on a note card:
Topic: dogs in space before people
Source #1 This number identifies your source. Use
proper citations.
Information (or quote):
"Before astronauts
orbited Earth, dogs paved the way for future exploration and for putting people in space."
Page 34 (Identifies the page where you found your information)
You don't have to copy the whole sentence. It's okay to use phrases
or part of a sentence.
Don't forget to put quotation marks around anything you copy
word-for-word.
